Mix with water. Apply. Rinse. No rinse-off film, no fragrance masking — just cleaner, smoother skin. Made from 55 herbs and roots used in Tamil homes for over a century.
ZHA is a dry herbal powder. You mix a small amount with water to form a paste, apply to damp skin, scrub gently for 2–3 minutes, and rinse. During that process, it does three things.
Mild physical exfoliation from the grain of the herb blend. No microplastics, no synthetic beads — just the natural texture of 55 ground herbs working against your skin surface.
The herbs have mild antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Skin gets cleaned at the surface without stripping naturally occurring oils the way sulfate-based soaps do.
After rinsing, skin feels smooth and slightly brighter. This comes from improved surface texture — not from any added pigment, colourant, or fragrance masking effect.
Works well for dry, oily, combination, and sensitive skin types. Also great for post-gym face wash, pre-event skin prep, or replacing your existing chemical scrub.
Body exfoliation for rough elbows and knees. Face-only use for those with oily or acne-prone skin. Shared family use — one jar serves multiple people. Post-workout cleanse without a separate face wash.
Do not apply to open or broken skin, active inflammatory acne, or skin conditions requiring medical treatment. This is a cleanser and exfoliant — not a substitute for dermatological care.
Start with once a week and increase based on how your skin responds. Most users with sensitive skin find they can move to 2x per week after the first two weeks without any irritation.
ZHA contains 55 ingredients. Here are the primary ones and what they contribute. No fillers — each ingredient serves a specific function in cleansing, nourishing, or protecting skin.
Skin feels smoother and cleaner than usual. The rough, slightly bumpy texture on arms and back reduces noticeably. No tightness, no film.
Skin tone starts to look more even. Small dry patches or flaky areas around the nose and cheeks clear up. Dark patches start to soften.
Consistent improvement in texture and brightness — not dramatic, but visible. Skin holds moisture better after bathing. Tone becomes more uniform.
Continued maintenance of skin texture. Many users report reducing or eliminating other exfoliant products entirely after 6–8 weeks of consistent use.
Since you can't touch it before you buy it, here's what to expect at every stage of application.
Fine powder, similar to loose clay or sandalwood face pack. Finer than sea salt, coarser than flour. Not gritty or coarse.
Forms a soft, slightly gritty paste. Spreads easily without pulling at skin. Mild earthy-botanical smell — not floral, not medicinal.
Gentle friction with circular motion. Not abrasive. The scrubbing sensation is mild, similar to a soft sugar scrub. No sting, no burn.
Skin feels clean and smooth immediately. No slippery film left behind. Skin feels ‘reset’ — like after a good exfoliation at a spa.
Earthy, herbal. Fades completely once dry. No synthetic fragrance — the smell comes from the herbs themselves and nothing else.
Take roughly a teaspoon into your palm — a coin-sized pile. You don’t need more than this regardless of whether you’re doing face or body.
Add a few drops of water and mix into a loose paste — not too thick, not runny. Use rose water instead of plain water for a more hydrating application.
Apply to damp face or body. Damp skin is key — the paste spreads better and the herbs activate properly on a wet surface.
Apply in circular motions for 2–3 minutes. Let the herbs do the work — no pressure needed. The exfoliation comes from the herb texture, not friction.
Rinse thoroughly with cool water. There should be no film or residue left behind. If there is, you used too much paste.
No moisturiser required immediately after. You can apply one if your skin feels dry, but most users find their skin feels balanced on its own.
Add a pinch of turmeric for extra antibacterial effect. Mix with rose water instead of plain water for a more hydrating application. Frequency: 2–3 times per week for most skin types. Once a week if your skin is sensitive.
A dry herbal powder. Mix with water, apply, scrub for 2–3 minutes, rinse. Removes dead skin without synthetic exfoliants. No sulphates, no preservatives, no binding agents. When you mix it with water, you get a pure herb paste.
Real feedback. Specific observations. Not marketing copy.
“Honestly wasn’t expecting much. Got it as part of a bundle and tried it after my shower. My elbows — which are always rough — actually felt different after one use. Not dramatically, but enough for me to use it again the next day.”
“I have sensitive skin and most scrubs leave my face red for hours. This one didn’t. It’s gentle but you can feel it working. After two weeks my skin looks more consistent — less of that uneven patch thing I always had on my cheeks.”
“The smell is different from what I expected — it’s earthy, not sweet or floral. Took some getting used to but now I actually like it. My husband uses it too now. We’re on our second jar.”
“I was comparing this to a popular brand I was using before. The difference is that after rinsing ZHA, my skin doesn’t feel tight. It just feels clean. That’s it. That’s what I wanted.”
“I use it after workouts. Quick mix, 2 minutes on my face, done. No face wash needed after. My gym bag now has a small travel container of this.”
“My mom used to make something similar at home when we were kids. This reminded me of that — same kind of smell, same feeling after washing. Except this is more convenient. I’ve bought it twice.”
“The dark patches on my arms started to fade after about a month. I wasn’t using it specifically for that — just for exfoliation — but the improvement was noticeable. I’ve started recommending it to people in my building.”
“I ordered one jar, was skeptical. It works. Simple as that. I’ve now ordered a 3-pack because I don’t want to run out mid-routine. Customer support also replied quickly when I had a shipping question.”

Fair question. The main difference is the formulation — ZHA is a dry herb blend, not a cream or gel base with added exfoliating particles. There are no sulphates, preservatives, or binding agents. When you mix it with water, you get a pure herb paste. The active ingredients don’t have to compete with fillers. Whether that matters to you depends on what you’re currently using and what your skin responds to. Try one jar and compare directly.
ZHA contains Neem, Vetiver, and Malabar Patchouli — all of which have documented antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Users with oily and acne-prone skin have reported improvement in pore congestion with regular use. However, if you have active, inflammatory acne, start with once a week and monitor your skin. Do not apply to open or broken skin. This is not a substitute for acne treatment — it’s a cleanser and exfoliant.
A 100g jar at 2 uses per week lasts approximately 5–6 weeks for face-only use. If you’re using it on both face and body, expect 3–4 weeks. A teaspoon per session is the right amount — you don’t need more. If you’re going through it faster, you’re using too much.
It’s real. The base formula is a community recipe that has been in use in Tamil households for over a hundred years. The specific herb combination — particularly the Crataeva Nurvala, Vetiver, and Madder Root combination — is traditional to Tamil skincare practice. ZHA Organics standardised the formula for consistent production and added FSSAI certification. The origin story isn’t the reason to buy it. But it’s accurate.
